Miss Representation

Recently, we watched the movie, Miss Representation. The teacher put us into pairs and then gave us each a device to look for in the movie. Our device is Irony.

The definition of Irony is when something of the exact opposite happens to what your expecting.

Miss Representation's argument was about women and how they are treated with unfairness in the eyes of media.

We were also suppose to look for examples in the movie on the device we were given. And since my device was Irony here are some of the examples me and my partner pointed out.

Examples of Irony in the movie

The girls look at a photo-shopped person and think they can’t be beautiful, this is irony because in reality those girls aren't real and it's not real beauty.Girls think they aren't beautiful unless they are skinny, when in reality every girl is beautiful in their own way and sometimes being to skinny can seem unhealthy. Even though there seem to be plenty of movies about women they are really just about how their life revolves around her getting a guy.
